One day as my hubby fetched me in school, I’m suspicious on the way he grinned at me. I asked him what’s the grinning for. He honestly told me that I don’t walk sexy anymore. Instead of walking straight, my feet stride in different positions and my bulging tummy is getting on the way instead of sucking it in. Thanks for that honesty my dear. Since then I find myself mentally checking my stride and started dieting to get rid of tummy fats.
I’ll be turning 30 next year. I have decided to look for ways to improve my body image. Body image is a term which may refer to a person’s perception of his or her own physical appearance, or the interpretation of the body by the brain. Body image can be described as how individuals see themselves when looking in a mirror, or when picturing themselves in their mind, and their ideas about their body, such as height, shape, and weight and age. Essentially, body image describes how one perceives one’s appearance to be in relation to others, which in many cases may be dramatically different from one’s objective physical condition or how one is actually perceived by others.
Here are some ways I learned to improve my body image:
1. Practice good posture.
Since hubby told me the ugly truth, I started practicing good posture. It truly helps increase my confidence level. Confidence is one of the things that will dramatically impact how other people view me, so by straightening up my posture, I feel better about myself in general, so it carries through impacting more than just how other people see me. I always feel good about myself and I noticed it increases my mood level. This simple change really impact my image.
2. Build self-confidence.
I look in the mirror and I like the person I see. I look inside myself and is comfortable with the person I see. I think of myself as being someone who can make things happen and who is worthy of love. My God, parents, siblings and my husband and son are the main source of my sense of self-worth.
