I’m late again
! Blame it on our internet provider…but at least we’re now OK and we’ve settled the dispute fair and square. Now let’s get back to business
.
I was glad that Girls Talk meme revived the bookworm in me. In fact, it’s the reason why we bought larger bookshelf and arranged on it my books who were hidden in a box for almost 2 years!
Most of my books are written by Christian writers like Judy Baer, Max Lucado and Rick Warren. I even have books written by Catherine Marshalls, Kathryn Kuhlman, and Grace Livingston Hill. They’re one of the handful authors who wrote books couples of decades ago but are still read by an increasing family of readers. Their writing is often seen very differently by those who read it—and that’s why it endures. It is at times a Christian life lesson, a romance, first-hand history, or even an outreach tool works. Since I got here in Thailand, it’s hard to find books in English and if you find one they’re a bit pricey so I content myself to hand-me-down books from Christian friends.
This month’s topic will introduce me to other great authors whom I’ve just known by names . I didn’t get the chance to read their books because they may not be available here in the local book store or worst, I have never been updated
.
Here’s my share for the funniest book I’ve read:
Okay, I admit that this may be for grade-schoolers but as a teacher I enjoy this book! The author , Barbara Robinson was able to make it wickedly creative, funny, full of moments that gets me groaning, laughing, and shrieking with surprise that my hubby wonders what happens to me
. Let me share to you the synopsis of the story:
When anything goes wrong at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, from the hexing of Bus Six to the mysterious disappearance of the kindergarten gerbil, it’s sure to have a Herdman behind it. The Herdmans are more than famous — they’re outlaws. They smoke cigars, lie, and set fire to things, and that’s only when they bother to come to school!
Then a school project forces the students to think of compliments for all their classmates — including the Herdmans. Is it possible that behind their outrageous pranks there may be something good about this crazy clan after all?
I have grown up with a bunch of brothers and sisters so I could somehow relate to the Herdmans but we’re not weird and bad as they are
. And if I have students like the Herdmans, it would surely make my day…watery!
