The recent flood in our city left many car owners quite literally and financially submerged but thank God that my friend was spared from that. Her family were in Philippines during that time to attend the funeral of her mother and just left their car at home. When we heard about the opening of dam and possibility of flood, our neighbors instructed us to park our friend’s car to a higher ground. The problem is , no one know how to drive! My hubby was still on his way and struggled how to safely return to us because the roads were already flooded. We called friends after friends and thankfully somebody volunteered to drive the car and park it to Tesco Lotus (one of the few places that wasn’t flooded). After the flood receded, I can’t help but imagined what if no one volunteered? We can’t do anything and their car would be one of the hundred vehicles ending up completely under water or impossible to take out on the road. Such damage can be hugely costly, whether a car needs to be completely replaced or taken to the garage for repairs. This scenario made me remind myself that if we’ll have car someday, I see to it that the car insurance that we’ll avail will cover flood-related damage that has occurred.
