Have you been invited to a costume party? Costume parties are not just fun for Halloween, they can be thrown any time of year! Any reason to throw a party is a good reason. Young and old alike enjoy a costume party. The beauty of wearing costumes is giving somebody the chance to portray his/her favorite character- Elvis Presley, a pirate, a fairy, a belly dancer or a nurse. Hosting a costume party will allow you to fulfill that fantasy, while also allowing your guests to fulfill their own. That would be a fantabulous occassion!
The major part of a costume party is…the costumes, of course! Everybody can wear the costumes of their choice- some dreams maybe fulfilled by dessing up fairy costumes or others could show off their beautiful body with their sexy women’s costumes (I won’t recommend this if I’m the host because I felt uncomfortable looking at women showing off their flesh). Eversince, I wanted to own indian costumes since elementary. I was fascinated by Indian stories told by my mom . I even owned before an Indian jacket with fringe details and printed beadwork. If I could find an indian costume such as the following, I’m sure they’ll see Pocahontas in me…LOL!
With the costumes as the focal point of the party, entertain the visitors by awarding the “best Costume”, “Best Homemade/Handmade Costume” and other “Best” Contest. By secret ballot, everyone can vote for their “best” and the person with the most votes will win a prize.
The real keys to throwing a costume party is organization and planning. Set the date for your party, pick a theme (if you want one or just let them wear any costume), purchase invitations and get them sent out, organize the food, music and entertainment, and be prepared for an extra person or two to show up. This will allow you to enjoy being another person for the night, instead of worrying about the party itself.
Above all, relax and have fun. It’s a party, and regardless of whether or not you are the one throwing it, it should be fun. Prepare as much as possible ahead of time so you’ll have time to mingle with your guests. It’s always better to do too much than not enough.
