LBD: Little Black Dress

It was confirmed to me today that on our New Year’s Party, the theme is LBD which stands for Little Black Dress. A little black dress is an evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often quite short. Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel intended to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color. Its ubiquity is such that it is often simply referred to as the “LBD.” (Wikipedia)
Though the “little black dress” is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers, I’m reminded that I don’t own one! So I searched the net for inspiration. Because I can only dress up with my best in times like this, I want to appear elegant and chic with my LBD- a style that is not common, a style that may challenge  me to step away from my comfort zone for a night.
Without further ado here are my picks:
My favorite act from the X-factor UK 2011, Little Mix, made up of (from L-R) Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall. I’m eyeing for Perrie’s black dress with a sequined top and leather jacket!

If I can’t get the look of Ms. Perrie, I may look for a LBD like what their mentor, Tulisa, wore during the
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 – UK Premiere:
The N-Dubz lady wore an all black ensemble, teaming together a feathered skirt, leather top and platform ankle boots.

Which of the two dresses I presented gets your vote?
